Eco-Friendly Building Materials

Rising Demand for Eco-Friendly Building Materials in the UAE

Such developments have propelled the UAE into a major trend: green building materials. As well as the ambition of the UAE to be Net Zero by 2050 and the set of the Dubai Green Building Regulations, such efforts in greening the footprint of the construction industry are aimed at promoting energy-efficient and sustainable materials.

Renewable wood, self-healing concrete, and palm biomass-based boards are just some examples of material that is increasingly becoming a part of the modern construction lexicon. The Emirates Green Building Council has actively undertaken these initiatives through campaigns about sustainability education and the adoption of green building technologies.

Increased demand to that effect only begins to tell the UAE tale of a city well adapted to and possibly improves the quality of urban livability, not forgetting its contribution toward achieving global climate goals. The combination of advanced materials and improved innovative practices is thus establishing the region and beyond by setting the benchmark for sustainable development.
